The struggling firm is on the verge of releasing their first Mediatek powered budget quad core smartphone in China.
Mediatek is one of the most popular chipsets of choice for budget smartphones. Thanks to the company's budget MT6589 quad core chipset (based on 4 x ARM Cortex A7 CPUs and the PowerVR SGX544 GPU), a ton of new phones (nearly a 100 now) have cropped up with features like 2 GB of RAM, 1080p display and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in China and other developing countries like India for as low as $150 (that's off-contract folks). After reports of Sony jumping the Mediatek bandwagon, it seems HTC is the next in line.
Picked up by the Minstry of Equipment in China, the HTC 608T is a mid range smartphone offering yesteryear's performance and features in an affordable package.
