HTC announces the entry-level Desire 650

Desire 650

Along with the HTC 10 evo, the Taiwanese smartphone maker also announced a new entry-level Android smartphone dubbed the Desire 650 in its home market. While the smartphone isn’t very impressive in the specs department, it does feature a catchy design with an engraved pattern on its back, which is claimed to improve grip as well. It also comes with BoomSound tech (only works with headphones).

The smartphone comes with a 5-inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 HD resolution and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm. In terms of memory, we’re looking at 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded by up to 2TB with a microSD card. At the back, the Desire 650 is equipped with a 13MP main camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens and an LED flash. For selfies, you get a rather impressive sounding 5MP front-facing camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens and auto-self timer.

Connectivity features include the usual Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC, and GPS with GLONASS. The battery inside the funky looking body is a 2200mAh unit, which is slightly disappointing even for an entry-level device. The smartphone weighs in at 140 grams and measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.4mm. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with the manufacturer’s Sense 8 UI.
