Owners of HTC Legend would be pleased to learn that their smartphones are getting the new Android 2.2 Froyo update (although it isn’t the Android 2.3 Gingerbread). Unfortunately, that looks to only be applicable for users in Europe.

Update: Android 2.2 update for HTC Legend is available in Singapore. Simply run your phone’s system software update, it is approximately 83MB. (Thanks to Entropy in VRForums)

HTC Legend, the successor to the popular HTC Hero, was launched in April this year. At that time, it was running on Google Android 2.1 (Eclair) and the manufacturer has promised the smartphone will be getting the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update. Well, it has been more than a couple of months and thankfully, the Android 2.2 update has become available to the HTC Legend according to a tweet from HTC. Bad news is, it is currently applicable only for users in Europe.

While there are no news as to when the new update will be made available to users in other parts of the world, we believed that HTC may be releasing it in the coming weeks. Well, if users in Europe are getting the update, it doesn’t make sense that others do not.
