According to HTC France, the 2012 mid-range HTC One S will be missing both Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as well as an update to the new Sense 5 UI.

Boy, this isn’t going to make HTC One S owners happy (but hey, don’t hate me for breaking it to you). HTC France made a comment on their Facebook page confirming that the glorious 2012 mid-range Android Smartphone has indeed been abandoned with no future Android OS update in the works.

Although we were somewhat prepared for this, after the tweet from HTC Russia last month, we were still hoping against hope for a comeback announcement by HTC. But the company has other plans for the phone, or in this case, no plans at all. Not only is the One S being denied Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but a future Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware with the new Sense 5 UI is not in the cards as well.

HTC One S Android 4.2 update cancelled

Sorry HTC One S owners, this sucks. Can’t do anything when the OEMs desert you. Thankfully, the adventurous ones can still head over to XDA-Developers forum and install a custom ROM with new Sense 5 goodies, or the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
