PhoneArena report that HTC is working on two new Windows enabled tablets. What makes them "special" is that they come with Windows RT Blue (ARM) instead of the regular x86 Windows 8 on board.
According to a fresh report by PhoneArena, HTC is working on two new Windows enabled tablets. Codenamed R7 and R12 (with the number denoting the display size), these new tablets will be powered by Windows RT Blue which tells us one really important thing, Microsoft will continue with Windows RT despite recent poor performance (as recent reports have brought to light). Perhaps Windows RT Blue can address many of the issues plaguing Windows 8 RT (and owners of such devices) and prove a turn around for the platform.
The HTC R7 will be the smaller of the two new tablets, although don't expect it to be anything cheap as it is alleged to pack a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and 2 GB of RAM. You may stop dreaming of a Nexus 7 version of Windows tablets for now.
HTC R7 Leaked Specifications
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Chipset
- 2.3 GHz Quad Core Krait CPU
- Adreno 330 GPU
- 2 GB Of RAM
- 7 Inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Full HD Display
- 13 MP AF Camera
- 16 GB Of Internal Storage
- MicroSD Card Slot
HTC's larger Windows tablet (at 12 inches screen size) codenamed R12 will come with the same set of specifications, only swapping the 7" 1080p display for a 12" 2K (2048 x 1536 pixels) resolution one.
As of now both these devices are slated for an October 13 launch which should end up being around the same time Microsoft officially announces the new (refresh) OS.
