Ice Cream Sandwich still not powering enough Android devices

Even with all the hype around Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) launch a few months ago, the sweet Android platform have yet to narrow the gap between itself and Gingerbread (GB).  Gingerbread currently powers about 65% of all Android devices, whereas, ICS is powering only about 7%.

Even with all the hype around Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) launch a few months ago, the sweet Android platform have yet to narrow the gap between itself and Gingerbread (GB).  Gingerbread currently powers about 65% of all Android devices, whereas, ICS is powering only about 7%. 

A variety of factors influence how GB and ICS are distributed among Android devices.  However, one of the main factors, if not the relevant, is manufacturers just don’t want to put the work into releasing ICS to their customers.  It may take manufacturers some effort and resources to spread the ICS goodness, and consumers are always grateful when there’s a free upgrade.  It’s just too bad most of the world’s Android users have yet to taste ICS.
