Tyan has unveiled their latest Typhoon cluster server running of 10 Quad-core Xeon 5300 processors at IDF Taipei today. There are 5 nodes altogether and each node has 2 sockets. It can perform at 45Tflops and consume less than 15KW power. This server will cost around $ 50K set to launch on Nov 14th. Tyan CEO, Dr. T. Symon Chang did a demonstration on the usage model of this server for analyzing air pollution in California running off the Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 OS.

More on Infoworld : The device, aimed
at small offices or home offices, carries several of the new Intel Corp. chips,
which contain four microprocessor cores each. Multicore chips allow a computer
to split up heavy workloads, and Intel says it has worked hard to make them as
power efficient as possible. The computers, which are taller than a large trunk
but about the same width, will cost around US$ 25,000 to $ 30,000 each and will
launch on Nov. 14, he added.
