The leaked image comes straight from Verizon’s servers and offers definite proof that a Windows Phone version of the HTC One M8 is coming soon.
Rumors of a Windows Phone variant of the HTC One M8 might have seemed too good to be true to some, but it looks like HTC really is going ahead with the device, as confirmed by an image of the M8 running Windows Phone found on Verizon’s servers.
The Windows Phone 8.1-powered M8 will reportedly launch as the One (M8) for Windows according to a recent leak, with exclusivity on Verizon in the US. The picture of the device suggests the hardware remains the same, which is probably helping HTC keep development costs down while allowing the company to experiment with Windows Phone once again, something it hasn’t done since it launched the colorful HTC 8X and 8S running Windows Phone 8 in late 2012.
HTC’s upcoming press event on August 19th is likely where the One (M8) for Windows will be unveiled. It remains to be seen just how well the handset will do – HTC has enough trouble selling even its Android phones, and it will probably take a miracle for the Taiwanese manufacturer to see any meaningful sales of the device that will mark its return to the Windows Phone ecosystem.
