Intel Cancels B-0 Conversion For Extreme Edition

We reported back in July that
the Pentium D and Pentium Extreme Edition will move from A-0 to B-0 stepping but
now apparently Intel has cancel the A-0 to B-0 conversion for the Extreme
Edition 840 but Pentium D will still go ahead. Here’s the reason they provided :

Due to healthier than expected production yields on our Extreme Edition
component, Intel has decided to keep the Intel® Pentium® processor Extreme
Edition 840 component on the A-0 stepping through End of Life. Please
discontinue all validation work on B-0 step for this product.
