Highest TDP is 9W. It is pitted against VIA C7-M single core 1.5GHz, rated at 7.5W TDP for the ULV version and 12W for the non-ULV. The U2500 is tested by Intel to exceed the VIA C7-M with over 2X performance.

Previously, AMD and Intel has not been agressively marketing Embedded Microprocessors. VIA has therefore risen to become the industry leader for embedded solutions without the presence of competition. As the embedded market is constanly expanding, AMD and Intel has started to attack this market. Although embedded microprocessors offered by both AMD and Intel operates faster than VIA’s offerings, the VIA C7 is stil prized for it’s low power consumption.

Intel will release in mid-June the ULV Yonah single core Celeron M 423, specified at 1.06GHz/1MB L2/533MHz with 5.5W TDP. It is pitted against the VIA C7M 1.2GHz at 5W TDP. It will be priced at USD $ 161 for 1000 pieces bulk order. It looks like the VIA C7-M is facing stiff competition form Intel.
