Intel outs seven new Core i5 desktop and Celeron mobile CPUs

Intel has just released a bunch of new processors to market; no less than seven of them with three being desktop Core i5 models and four new Celeron mobile parts.

Intel has just released a bunch of new processors to market; no less than seven of them with three being desktop Core i5 models and four new Celeron mobile parts.

The new Core i5 models include the Core i5-2550K at $225 (just $9 more than the i5-2500K), i5-2450P ($195) and i5-2380P ($177) with clock rates of 3.4GHz, 3.2GHz and 3.1GHz, respectively. Other specs are typical of the i5 range with these three new chips; four threads (w/o HyperThreading), 6MB of L3 cache and a 95W TDP.

Turning our attention to the mobile Celeron variants, these include the Celeron B815, B720, 867 and 797. The B815 has two physical cores running at 1.6GHz with 2MB of L3 cache and carrying a price tag of $86. The B720 has just a single core, clocked at 1.7GHz with 1MB of L3 cache and costs $70.

The new ultra-low voltage Celeron 867 ($134) and 797 ($107) chips run clock rates of 1.3GHz and 1.4GHz, respectively, with the former sporting two cores, carrying 2MB of L3 cache and the latter just a single (with 1MB L3 cache).
