Intel announced that they would be delivering new Pineview processors for Netbooks to PC makers in Q4 2009. The Pineview processors is expected to make the chip faster, smaller and reduce power consumption. This could result in thinner netbook designs with longer and better batter life.

According to PC World, Intel spokesperson Jeff DeMuth said the new chip will integrate graphics and memory controller inside the CPU and this will lead to a package size reduction of 70 percent compared to the earlier generations of Atom chops.

This integration of the memory controller and graphic processor is also expected to impove the communication between processor and memory and process mutimedia at better speeds. These frees up bandwidth for the processor to communicate and process with other components in the Netbook.
