Intel is planning to launch an attack on VIA C7 and AMD Geode in
the small form factor designs segment this year. This processor codenamed
Tolapai has integrated MCH Northbridge and ICH Southbridge functionalities.
Intel Tolapai is based on 1088-ball FCBGA package measured at 3.75cm x 3.75cm on
65nm process technology. The processor core is based on Pentium M architecture
and has 256KB L2 cache onboard. Tolapai can operate at 3 frequencies ; 600MHz,
1.06GHz and 1.2GHz with TDP ranging from 13W to 22W. Tolapai supports
DDR2-800/667/533/400 in Dual Channel mode with ECC (optional) up to 2GB.

Tolapai
has full I/O functionalities such as 3 x GbE, PCI Express (1×8/2×4/2×1), 2 x USB
2.0, 2 x SATA 2.0. The Tolapai reference board design uses normal 12V ATX power,
2 DIMM slots for DDR-II 800, 3 x GbE ports, 1 PCIe x8 slot (4 lanes), 2 SATA
ports, 2 USB ports, mezzanine connectors for expansion bus interfaces as well as
optional super I/O functions like Floppy, Parallel, Serial and PS-2. Tolapai
supports Linux (Red Hat),  FreeBSD and Windows Embedded XP. We can expect
different SKUs of Tolapai available for different applications such as embedded
control, management and line card.
