Intel's mobile Core CPU shortage in full force

It was rumoured way back in February that Acer had "over-ordered" Intel's Arrandale Core 2010 mobile CPUs, leading to market-wide shortages which would hit in March. Part of these rumours came to be true, as by the end of March, there was a shortage in supply of Arrandale CPUs. These shortages were expected to last through April, but moving to mid-May, Converge reports that the shortage has hit full-force, depleting stocks and increasing prices. More next page...

It was rumoured way back in February that Acer had "over-ordered" Intel's Arrandale Core 2010 mobile CPUs, leading to market-wide shortages which would hit in March. Part of these rumours came to be true, as by the end of March, there was a shortage in supply of Arrandale CPUs. These shortages were expected to last through April, but moving to mid-May, Converge reports that the shortage has hit full-force, depleting stocks and increasing prices.

AMD's promising Danube platform couldn't have released at a more opportune time. AMD's new CPUs promise to deliver price/performance leadership. With increasing prices and lowered stocks for Intel's Core i3/i5 M CPUs, AMD might finally have an opportunity to make its mark on a market dominated by Intel.

It is unknown as to how long the supply shortage will last.
