Intel shows Medfield SoC smartphone at sales conference
At the recent Intel sales conference, Anand Chandrasekher, senior vice president and general manager of Intel Ultra Mobility Group, held out a smartphone briefly which was said to be Medfield System-on-Chip (SoC) based smartphone. Could the smartphone be a Nokia?
A Medfield System-on-chip (SoC) based smartphone was spotted at Intel sales conference. The 32nm Medfield features integrated memory controller, I/O, output and multimedia function support on a single die, and was dubbed as the successor to Intel Atom. According to reports, there will be a dual-core Medfield, as well as two versions for the smartphones - one that can handle standard graphics and one for high-end graphics.
No one can tell if the one in the above picture is a Nokia smartphone, and seeing the upcoming N9 claims to be equipped with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor and supports 4G LTE network. However, it was said that a new family of SoCs for mobile applications will debut officially this year.
