iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak rumored for release on Super Bowl Sunday

Jailbreaking iOS 6.x has been met with many roadblocks, but for untethered jailbreak seekers, this upcoming Sunday may be the day you all receive a very late Christmas gift courtesy of team Evad3rs.

Evad3rs’ Planetbeing recently tweeted:

“iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using. :)”

MuscleNerd, also a part of Evad3rs, added to the commotion by tweeting:

“Hey, did everyone know the Super is this Sunday?  What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs”

Of course all this iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak talks is by no mean a confirmation of its eventual release, but MuscleNerd’s subtle hint in his Super Bowl tweet is creating quite a bit of hype for an actual untethered jailbreak.

News of people running an untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak on their iPhone 5 have been floating around the internet for quite some time, but there has been no official public release as of yet.  It may be a good thing that there hasn’t been a public release yet, because the great people at Apple are quick to plug in the holes and prevent the exploits from taking away the company’s much needed revenue.
