Pod2g is a member of the extremely notable iPhone dev team, which has been on the iOS jailbreaking scene for a long time. His note, posted today on Twitter, is not an encouragement to those waiting to jailbreak their new iPhone 5, and access the plethora of user-made applications/misc. customizations available to jailbroken devices.

"About the iOS 6 JB : I'm not working on it ATM, sorry. I'm focusing on my job. Maybe discussions at #WWJC will generate ideas (?)"

Pod2g’s note is specifically relevant to the new iOS devices announced at this September’s event in California, including the newest iPod touch and the iPhone 5. iOS 6.0 itself is not without a jailbreak exploit, but it currently only available to devices that use Apple’s older A4 processor. Apple upgraded the iPhone to an A6 processor, and the iPod touch line has taken a step up to the A5.

As discouraging as this news may be the jailbreaking community, hope still exists in the form of another hacker that goes by the username ‘chpwn’. Last week, chpwn released a screenshot of an iPhone 5 sporting Cydia, an application exclusive to jailbroken devices, on the homescreen. While no public release or ETA has been made of this exploit, it does provide some hope that he or somebody else will manage to get a jailbreak out in the hopefully not-too-distant future.
