HTC hasn’t seen great smartphone sale numbers lately, but that’s okay, it just means that the Taiwan-based company is pouring more effort into developing more products that are quietly brilliant.  Next up on the HTC rumor mill is a 5-inch smartphone that’s probably aimed at the “phablet” market for which the Samsung Galaxy Note has been a popular device among consumers.

A device with the label HTC6435LVW was recently spotted on GLBenchmark running Android 4.0.4, and while ICS is nothing to be amazed by, perhaps the unusual 1794×1080 screen resolution may get the geek-juice flowing.

Also within the benchmark are details regarding the chip powering the device; a 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 with the Adreno 320 GPU.  The combination of a high resolution screen and the upper tier MSM8960 hints that HTC is working on a device that can compete with Samsung’s Exynos/Mali-powered Galaxy Note 2.

Furthermore, some images of an interesting looking HTC device have been floating around the online mobile scene, and many are thinking that it may be HTC’s upcoming smartphone-tablet hybrid.  The details are still too vague to consider HTC’s next phablet will look like the phone in the image or that it’ll have specs like the HTC6435LVW, but it doesn’t hurt anyone to play around with the puzzle pieces to see if it fits.
