When you think of a car with a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine, you’ll probably think of an economy car for around $20K.  How about a 1.6 liter 4-cylinder supercar that churns out 500 horses, and can go from 0-96.5 km/hour in under 3 seconds?  Jaguar’s CX75 does just that, but at the same time it's also very eco-centric.

Two hundred CX75 are scheduled for production some time next year, and although it’s no Prius, the CX75 will boast a hybrid-mode as well as a full electric-only mode.

The CX75 will have a combustion engine paired with two electric motors, one at each axle, for full on fun or for eco-friendly driving.  The car’s lithium battery pack holds enough juice to get green-conscious Jag lovers about 59 km on electric-only.

What’s a little befuddling about the car’s layout is that it comes with gasoline-electric and electric-only modes but no gasoline-only mode.

Jaguar isn’t the only supercar manufacturer that has (or already has) high performance hybrids in the making.  Ferrari’s upcoming Enzo and Porsche’s 918 Spyder are claiming to have similar performance—albeit, with different setups.

What’s the going price to get your greasy hands on a Jaguar CX75?  If you must really know, it’ll be around $1 million.
