JPR: Processor graphics/APUs take over in Q3 2011
Call them Processor Graphics, as Intel do, or Accelerated Processing Units (APU) as per AMD, chips combining GPUs and CPUs are starting to dominate overall graphics shipments. In Q3, as a result of Sandy Bridge's massive success, Intel's jumped to a 60% market share in graphics shipment. AMD held on to 23% which NVIDIA, left without an APU competitor, dropped to 16%.

Overall, graphics shipments soared by 16.7% over Q2 2011, as is the trend for Q3. However, 16.7% is still over general trends and 18.4% over Q3 2010.
AMD's shipments increased by 9.9%, Intel's by 28.5% while NVIDIA's fell by 6.2%. However, NVIDIA did note disruptive market share growths in the discrete markets, growing by 30% over Q2 2011. Much of this is attributed to Optimus technology working with Sandy Bridge notebooks. Strangely, NVIDIA also sold IGPs to power older AMD CPUs.
