Judge Koh to Apple’s lawyer: “Are you smoking crack?”

Lucy H Koh 270x378 Judge Koh to Apples lawyer: Are you smoking crack?

In an amusing turn of events, Judge Lucy Koh’s patience with Apple is wearing thin because its lawyers are presenting too many documents.

In an amusing turn of events, Judge Lucy Koh’s patience with Apple is wearing thin because its lawyers are presenting too many documents.

“I mean come on.  75 pages!  You want me to do an order on 75 pages,” Koh said not amused.  “Unless you’re smoking crack, you know these witnesses aren’t going to be called when you have less than four hours!”

Each side are allotted a certain amount of time to call upon witnesses, and apparently Judge Koh feels that she and her staff cannot handle the overwhelming heap of papers.

“Your honor, I can assure you, I’m not smoking crack,” Apple’s lawyer, Bill Lee, said in his own defense.

Koh has warned both sides that there may be consequences if Koh and her staff had to go through documents pertaining to people that weren’t going to be witnesses.

“If it turns out I went through 75 pages for people who are not going to be called, I am going to think of a proper tax for that,” she said.

If the tax is monetary, we know that Apple has a war chest to back it up (so does Samsung), but if Judge Koh decides to dismiss the case altogether that will be bad news for Apple.
