Only four months after it’s release, a clone of Microsoft’s Kinect interface for the Xbox 360 has already been announced for the PC.

Jointly created by Taiwanese company ASUS and Israeli company PrimeSense the WAVI Xtion is a gesture control interface for interacting with content from your PC, on your TV screen.

The WAVI Xtion Media Center consists of two components – the Xtion Motion Sensor and the WAVI, a transmitter / receiver – that allow users to use gesture-like commands to play games and access multimedia content.

The Xtion’s sensor has a highly similar design to the Kinect, as well as boasting an effective range of 0.8m to 3.5m, the Xtion is for all intents and purposes, a slightly different version of Kinect.

One can only hope that developers will be keen to introduce PC games with gesture controls, as well as taking the opportunity to develop OS interfaces that will be as smooth as that interface from the movie “Minority Report.”

The WAVI Xtion is to be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2011 as stated in the official press release.
