Konka is working on their next flagship droid. Packing a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display, the one stand out feature of this phone is its fingerprint scanner.
Chinese electronics manufacturer Konka is preparing their next flagship smartphone. Dubbed the Konka V981, this new smartphone packs one feature than makes it stand apart from the crowd, a fingerprint scanner.
With rumors pointing towards Apple working on integrating a fingerprint scanner in their next iPhone (with a redesigned Home button) and reports from yesterday citing that Samsung is working on the same, Konka surprised all by announcing an actual product based on this technology. Even without the scanner, the Konka V981 is an impressive handset.
Konka V981 Specifications
- Mediatek MT6589 Chipset
- Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU
- PowerVR SGX544 GPU
- 4.8 Inch HD (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED Display
- 13 MP Rear Camera
- 16 or 32 GB ROM
- 2200 mAh Battery
- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
The Konka V981 will come in two flavors, either using the older MT6589 chipset (1.2 GHz core clock) or the updated MT6589T chipset (1.5 GHz core clock, faster GPU). Amount of RAM is unknown, but we are guessing it'll be 1 or 2 GB. Konka will add their own skin called MuseUI 3.0 atop Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The updated MUSE ROM will allow for added security in the form of a fingerprint scanner, most probably on the Home button itself.
Pre-ordering for the Konka V981 will open on 3rd June for an affordable price tag of just $240 (or 1499 Yuan).
