Lenovo has unveiled yet another addition to its ThinkPad series of notebooks, this time an 11.6-inch model called the X121e. It will be available with a choice of one Intel CPU or one of two AMD APUs, with the Intel model also having the option of being kitted out with an SSD.

The AMD models are disappointing, as Lenovo has gone for AMD's C-50 and E-350 APUs paired with the A50M chipset. This isn't exactly an upgrade from the current X120e which also sported the AMD E-350 APU. The Intel powered model gets a Core i3-2357M CPU which is clocked at 1.3GHz and this has been paired with the UM67 chipset.

The base AMD model will feature a 250GB hard drive and a mere 1GB of RAM and a 3-cell battery and of course the C-50 APU, while the E-350 powered model will come with the same 250GB hard drive, but it gains a 6-cell battery and sports 4GB of RAM. The base Intel model comes with a 320GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM, as well as the 3-cell battery, but is also available with a 128GB SSD upgrade option and of course extra RAM and the 6-cell battery.

Common between all models is the 1366×768 resolution 11.6-inch matte screen, three USB 2.0 ports, of which one is powered to allow for charging of gadgets, Gigabit Ethernet, an HDMI port, a D-sub connector, an SDXC card reader, a webcam, a headset jack and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. Some models will also come with Bluetooth 3.0, 5GHz Wi-Fi and WiMax/3G.

The model with the 3-cell battery will weigh in at about 1.4kg with the 6-cell models coming it at about 1.55kg. The 3-cell battery is said to be good for up to 3.8h with the Intel CPU and 3.5 to 4.1h with the AMD APUs. The 6-cell battery extends the battery life to about 7.7h with the Intel CPU and about 7.2h with the AMD E-350 APU. Sadly some configurations will only be available to SME's, but as always, configurations will vary from country to country.

Price wise there seem to be some discrepancies, as in Japan pricing starts at around S$1,000 for the C-50 model, but we've also seen list prices of the E-350 powered model starting at a much more affordable €399 (S$710) in Europe (although without OS), with the Intel Core i3-2357M model starting at €729 (S$1,290) with 4GB of RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 3G modem. Both models in Europe come standard with a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive.
