"The ThinkPad X100e is a professional grade entry level ultraportable that offers exceptional portability and usability at a very affordable price. The price starts at S$1000 and is the cheapest ultraportable ThinkPad you can get. The ThinkPad Edge is another class of ThinkPad targeted at the SMB users who want affordability and reliability, and at the same time retain the characteristics of the ThinkPad classic."

Both the ThinkPad X100e and Thinkpad Edge (above picture) are fairly lightweight though both do not have a built-in optical drive. If you need to read your DVD discs, you would have to purchase the external USB version.
