LG Electronics recently conducted a battery test between the Optimus G and Galaxy S3 in Seoul, and their results?

In a bid to dispel misunderstandings about the battery life for its Optimus G smartphone, LG held a media briefing on the 15th at the LG headquarters where a representative for LG Electronics  did a comparative test of battery efficiency between the Optimus G and it’s top rival – Samsung’s Galaxy S3.

Several tests were done to measure the battery life during video playback, shooting video, and talk time. In the video playback tests the Galaxy S3 was able to last 6 hours and 45 minutes before there was a warning that there was 15% remaining battery power left.  The Optimus G’s battery lasted 7 hours and 1 minute before an identical warning appeared.  Overall, the Galaxy S3 died after 7 hours and 15 minutes and the Optimus G died 7 hours 52 minutes of video playback.

The Optimus G also beat the Galaxy S3 when shooting movies. Samsung’s Galaxy S3 was able to shoot movies for only 2 hours and 52 minutes while the Optimus G held out for a total of 3 hours 55 minutes.

In talk time tests, the difference between the two phones was even more drastic. The Galaxy S3 died after 9 hours and 39 minutes of continuous talking time. Whereas, the Optimus G lasted 15 hours and 51 minutes before the battery died.

A Samsung representative said the tests were just ‘noise-making’.
