LG has unveiled its Optimus F Series of smartphones ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, its latest 4G LTE smartphones aimed at a wider audience.

The South Korean electronics firm has two F Series models debuting at the mobile event, both of which offer features from LG's premium devices on lower-end models.

The Optimus F5 features a 4.3-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded with a 32GB microSD card. A largest-in-class 1,150mAh battery should give plenty of life.

The Optimus F7 comes with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and the same amount of built-in storage as the F5. The battery is larger on this model, at 2,540mAh.

Both devices run Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and provide LG user interface improvements like QSlide, which allows users to run two apps simultaneously, and Live Zooming, which lets users zoom in while watching videos. QuickMemo, QTranslator, Video Wiz, and Safety Care are also included.

The Optimus F5 will launch in the second quarter in Europe, followed by a worldwide release. The Optimus F7 will come later in selected markets, but it is not clear when we can expect it. Pricing for both models will be announced later, but given their relatively low specs we can likely expect them to be on the more affordable end of the market.
