LGA775 P4 Extreme Edition On Gallatin Core

Sources at IDF Taipei today revealed that there will be LGA775 Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors based on 0.13 micron Gallatin core instead of the 90nm Prescott core in the next quarter. Intel has recently added 2 more interconnect metal layers to its Extreme Edition processors and some Northwoods and the early overclocking results showed that the scalability has improved therefore there could just be higher SKUs EE in the near future. The successor to Gallatin, the 90nm Potomac will arrive early next year so EE will probably be based on the Potomac core then.
