Retail edition images of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active with AT&T branding slips out onto the Internet.
The Galaxy S4 Active has been branded as the rugged version of the Galaxy S4. The device is IP67 certified dust and water resistant, which means that it can be submerged in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes.
Internal hardware is almost similar to the Galaxy S4, with the only major difference being a TFT LCD panel instead of the AMOLED screen that was used in the S4. However, it still features a full-HD resolution and the same pixel density. Other key features include a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, an 8MP rear camera, which has been downsized from the 13MP sensor in the S4, a 2MP front shooter and a 2,600mAh battery. A feature unique to the S4 Active is the camera setting called Aqua Mode that allows you to take images underwater.
The Galaxy S4 Active will be available exclusively on AT&T in the U.S. for $199 on a two-year contract, and the carrier will start selling the device from June 21st, a day after Samsung’s London event. From the official announcement, it looks like Samsung will sell the device in two colour variations, Dive Blue and Urban Gray.
