G502 Logitech unveils the G502 Proteus Core

Logitech has unveiled a new mouse that puts it back in the competitive area withe the likes of Razer and SteelSeries.

The G502 Proteus Core is the first gaming mouse in the world to come with a 12,000 DPI sensor. The mouse features a 32 bit ARM processor that lets you assign macros or reconfigure the 11 programmable buttons on the mouse. Button configuration can be done through Logitech’s gaming software, and thanks to on-board memory, your macro settings will remain intact.

The G502 Proteus Core features Logitech’s Delta Zero sensor technology that can track movement at 300 inches per second. The sensor technology allows for zero sensor acceleration, zero smoothing or filtering, and zero pixel rounding and the ability to adjust DPI from 200 to 12000.

A novel feature on the G502 Proteus Core is the ability to calibrate the sensor to a particular mouse surface for additional accuracy. By default, the mouse works with Logitech’s G240 and G440 surfaces, but you can add your own gaming surface through Logitech’s gaming software and tune the G502 Proteus Core according to the surface.

Logitech provides five 3.6 g weights along with the mouse so that you can change the weight and customize the center of gravity of the mouse to your liking. The mouse also features mechanical micro-switches under each key for better tactile feedback and accuracy.

The Logitech G team believes that when hype fades, Science Wins!”

With a retail price of $79.99, the G502 Proteus Core is more affordable when seen against similar mice from Razer or SteelSeries. It is set to debut later this month.
