Be careful. Be very careful.
If you’re like the millions of hardcore Grand Theft Auto fans across the world who want to keep the plot of GTA V a secret, then you should be careful what you click in the next few weeks.
Due to a recent PSN pre-order offer going awry, users were granted access to various GTA V assets and posted their findings to the internet, potentially spoiling the game’s plot as the news spread like wildfire.
The files included audio logs which were decrypted and then transcribed and posted online, featuring dialogue from the very beginning to the very end of GTA V‘s story.
The preload files were since pulled from the PlayStation Network, but the information is circulating throughout the world wide web as we speak, so the damage has been done.
Sony has since expressed its condolences for the mishap via a recent post:
“Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets.
These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content.
GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17.”
Rockstar also responded to the debacle via an update on their GTA V Day One Digital post:
“Unfortunately, as many of you may already know, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTAV assets leading to leaked information and media from the game appearing online.

GTAV represents years of hard work by many people across the world, and we all couldn’t be more excited to finally share it with you properly this September 17th. “
To date, Grand Theft Auto V has amassed record-breaking pre-orders and looks to be one of the most monumental launches of the year.
