The new version of Skype for iPhone is out. This means that users can now make free Skype-to-Skype calls via their 3G connection. However, the company intends to introduce a charge for such service from September.

Make 3G Skype Call On Your iPhone

iPhone users in US rejoice! Skype has released a new version of their app for iPhone, allowing users to make Skype-to-Skype calls free, via the 3G network (no longer just relying on Wi-Fi).

According to sources, Skype has plans to introduce a pricing scheme for Skype-to-Skype services which could happen this September. And it could come as a monthly fee rather than purchasing the amount for time usage (similar to prepaid cards). However, that is on top of your monthly plans you have with AT&T.

Currently, Verizon smartphone users can make free Skype calls for free, though standard rates do apply when using Skype to dial up a landline or mobile phone.
