If the ads, magazines, comics, and movie weren’t enough for Marvel to promote their “Avengers,” then what is enough?  Apparently, Marvel wants to take it a notch higher than Earth—literally—and send The Avengers into space.

Marvel Studios recently announced that they will be working with NASA to uplink the film The Avengers for astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) to enjoy.  This is not a mere Marvel charity screening; it is Marvel’s way of associating itself with one of the most respected space exploration organizations.

“The studio is privileged to share ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ with those up in space exploring the universe.  A special thanks goes to NASA for utilizing their incredible technology to make this special screening miles above us in space happen.  It is a screening that would make Tony Stark envious," says Louis D’Esposito, Marvel Studio’s Co-President and Executive Producer of The Avengers.

Marvel’s intention to stir up more media attention for their Avengers may or may not be the main motive, but everyone needs a little R&R after a long day of work.  According to Dan Cook—Psychological Support Coordinator contactor for NASA—films, books, and music “help keep the crew connected to home, which is a huge morale boost while being away for long periods of time.”

Currently there are six crew members on the ISS consisting of 2 NASA, 1 European, and 3 Russian Astronauts.  I hope they have popcorn!
