Marvell, the current leader in storage, communications and
consumer silicon solutions today held a groundbreaking ceremony for their
100,000 square feet, 7-storey regional headquarters in Singapore which is
schedule to be completed by mid 2008. This building will host numerous
facilities such as IC assembly and test operations, IC design teams, sales and
technical support. Chairman and CEO of Marvell, Dr Sehat Sutardja and Director
of Electronics of Singapore Economic Development Board, Mr. Lim Swee Nian
attended the ground breaking ceremony.

According to Dr Sehat Sutardja, the history of Marvell presence
in Singapore dated way back when the company first started more than 10 years
back where the primary business was to serve storage customers such as Seagate,
Western Digital, Maxtor whose manufacturing facilities are in Singapore. This is
the first time Marvell has their own building that is built from scratch and the
decision is made just last year. Marvell is expected to increase workforce in
Singapore from the current 200 to over 500 in the next few years with IC and
test assembly engineers forming the bulk of the staff to be recruited. Marvell
is expected to spend over S$ 100M over the next few years and encourage talent
students to join them. It is interesting to note that Marvell will be having a
recruitment drive in NUS in a couple of days to attract talent undergrads to
join their workforce.

For company direction, Marvell will shift their focus from
enterprise to consumers in the next few years and Dr Sehat Sutardja expects to
see the demand for consumer ICs to outpace enterprise ICs demand. Dr Sehat is
proud to reveal that nearly 100% of branded Digicams are using Marvell ICs for
WiFi connectivity, more than 60% of the Hard Drives using Marvell Storage ICs,
more than 80% of enterprise RAID cards using Marvell RAID chips, more than 60%
of routers using Marvell networking ICs. Marvell CEO is also delighted to share
with us the acquisition of Intel Communications and Application Processor
Business where he describes as "Once In A Lifetime" opportunity and is expected
to propel Marvell strongly into the next wave in the cell phone business.
Marvell has also entered a new segment into the Optical DVD/HD business and is
determined to get more design wins so their revenues/profits growth stay strong.
