Popular Indian smartphone brand Micromax is gearing up to release the next iteration of their hit Canvas series of Android phones, the Micromax Canvas 4.
Two days ago, Micromax posted two short teaser videos of the upcoming Micromax Canvas 4 Smartphone. Fast forward two days and Indian Technology News site Gizchai posts photos of the upcoming to-be budget king. The gallery posted below shows the phone from different angles, showing off the 8.9mm thickness and 13 MP camera module at the back.
On closer inspection, we found that the Micromax Canvas 4 might end up being nothing else but a rebranded Blue Life One. Boy are people not going to be happy when they find this out. The public were sincerely hoping for a 1080p display, a much larger battery and perhaps the new MediaTek MT6589T 1.5 GHz quad-core chipset on board.
Gizchai reports that the Canvas 4 will pack MediaTek’s MT6589 quad-core SoC, a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, a gigabyte of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Battery capacity is modest, at just 2100 mAh. The secondary camera is a surprise, at 5 MP, and comes with HD video recording. The Canvas 4 will run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and weigh in at a moderate 145 grams. Rumored pricing to be in the Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 23,000 range ($330-$420), a bit on the higher side for such a phone.
