Micromax is hard at work on its next flagship, which will be called the A240. The device will feature a 5.7-inch screen.
The folks over at AndroidOS have managed to get exclusive information that Micromax is hard at work on the A240, which will be the successor to the Canvas 4. The device is targeted to go against Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 5.8. The Micromax A240 will feature a 5.7-inch 720p screen, and will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6589 SoC. This makes the third Micromax device in a row, after the Canvas HD and the Canvas 4 to feature the same SoC.
The A240 will also come with a 12MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front camera, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory along with a 2,600 mAh battery. The device will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will come with all the UI features the Canvas 4 included.
The A240 will cost $290 (INR 18,000), which is similar to what the Canvas 4 costs. While Micromax is enjoying a record number of sales, the manufacturer has seen that decrease in the last quarter thanks to Canvas 4’s lukewarm showing. The mobile has been discounted as a result, and this might be a reason Micromax in so intent on getting another device on the market so soon after the launch of the Canvas 4.
