Confirming unofficial reports last week which at the time seemed almost too good to be true, Microsoft has now put up an offer on the Microsoft Store website for an Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle for a mere US $99.

It must be noted that the deal isn't set in stone for the long term and Microsoft mentions that they may choose to terminate it at any time. And if you're wondering what the catch is, indeed there is one. You are required to sign up for a $14.99 a month Xbox Live Gold subscription for 2 years as a part of the deal.

The other important thing to note is that at the end of the day you end up being slightly further out of pocket versus just buying an Xbox 360 4GB + Kinect bundle outright and setting yourself up on 2 years of Xbox Live Gold. At about $300 outright for the bundle and a year of Xbox Live Gold being $59.99, this equates to a total of $420.

If you compare that to the $99 deal + its $360 of 2 year Xbox Live subscription, that totals $460, leaving you $40 out of pocket. Nonetheless, some may still prefer this route to pick up a new 360 with low initial costs.

But otherwise, it's all above board and what you see is what you get. To place the order you just need to bring the above offer code (885370366266) to your local Microsoft Store.
