Microsoft launches Office Mobile for the Apple iPhone
Microsoft has finally launched their Office Mobile suite for the Apple iPhone available on the iTunes Store.
Microsoft today has made available their beautiful Office Mobile suite to all Apple iPhone users with an active Office 365 subscription for free. Fully optimized to work on the iPhone’s small display, Office Suite allows users to view and edit Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents stored online straight from their iPhone. This app was previously exclusive to Microsoft’s Windows platform.
The app can be used to access documents stored on SkyDrive or SharePoint, with every change made to the document saved instantly. Even without an active internet connection you can continue editing your document and save it. Later when you’re back online, the updated document will be synced with your online copy.
Access documents from virtually anywhere:
* Cloud – With your phone, you can access Office documents that are stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint.**
* Recent Documents – Office Mobile is cloud-connected. The documents you’ve recently viewed on your computer are readily available on your phone in the recent documents panel.
* Email Attachments – You can view and edit Office documents attached to email messages.
Sadly, Office Mobile requires Office 365 subscription to use the app and there’s no way around that. There’s no free version, nor a version for the iPad or the iPad Mini. We suspect that the app will be released for larger devices as and when Microsoft completes optimizing the app for the larger display.
