A new music streaming service is arriving on Android and iOS today. Microsoft has launched Xbox Music on both platforms, which offers unlimited streaming to Xbox Music Pass subscribers.
The app’s interface matches the new Xbox One interface and provides access to the usual features you’ll find in streaming services, such as playlists, radio, top charts, along with access to millions of tracks. There’s no offline caching available at launch, but Microsoft expects to add that and many other features in the future, as it plans to issue updates every month or so.
Microsoft is also launching free ad-supported listening on the web version of Xbox Music, though users will have to pay after six months – $9.99 per month or $99.99 for a whole year - to continue enjoying unlimited streaming. The Radio feature, a “quick and dynamic way to personalize your collection, discover new favorites and create ultimate playlists,” will also be coming to the web player later this year.
