Microsoft's Windows 8 Logo takes a radical change
Say goodbye to the multicolored Windows flag, as what you see here is the new Windows logo for Microsoft's next consumer level OS, Windows 8. Some radical changes are on the cards with Windows 8 especially pertaining to the mobile/touchscreen friendly Metro UI and Microsoft wanted to reflect Metro's emphasis on cleaner lines in its new logo.

Funnily enough, the new logo is actually somewhat reminiscent of the company's earliest Windows logo in existence, that of Windows 1.0 as you can see below.
The Windows logo underwent a significant transformation when 1992's Windows 3.1 came about, resembling the waves of a colored flag that was said to be done with intent to represent a sense of motion. But as commissioned agency Pentagram said (whom has created the new Windows 8 logo), "Your name is Windows. Why are you a flag?"
