Seems like it is a lil earlier than usual, Windows 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is now available for download on Microsoft’s site.

Here are a few things you might want to take note.

  • The RC of Windows 7 will be available until July 2009 and there is no limit to the number of product keys.
  • The RC will expire on 1st June 2010 and starting 1st March 2010, your PC will shutdown every 2 hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start.
  • You can install the Windows 7 RC on a PC running Windows Vista without backing up the PC, although backing up is recommended. If you’re running Windows XP or  Windows 7 Beta, you’ll need to backup your data, do a clean installation of the RC, then reinstall your applications and restore your data. If you need to do a backup, please see How to back up your PC for more details and a suggestion for how to backup a PC running Windows 7 Beta or Windows Vista.

So here it is, for those who have been waiting for the official RC release on Microsoft’s site, hop on to the link above and grab that RC now!
