‘Minecraft PS3 Edition’ coming to retail shelves in May

Sony has announced the PS3 version of the indie hit Minecraft will see a physical disc-based Blu-ray release next month.

Minecraft is more than just a game; it’s a sensation that has swooped across both the console and PC gaming worlds, bringing millions of hours of voxel-style block building and entertainment.

Last year Sony announced Minecraft was coming to PS3 via digital download on the PlayStation Network, and now the game will be making its debut onto Blu-ray, matching the highly successful retail version for the Xbox 360.

In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony confirmed that a disc-based version of the Minecraft PS3 Edition will come to Blu-ray on May 14 to all PAL regions. The announcement also confirmed that the disc version will come with all of the in-game changes from Update 14, including emeralds, potatoes, and Ender Chests.

The PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions are both still in development by 4J Studios–as is the Xbox One version–but we’ll likely see updates on their progress soon.
