A member of the HardwareCanucks forums, Cowboy, has leaked several pictures of both the 5870 X2 and 5850 X2 over the weekend.

The first thing worth pointing out is that the outer heatsink shell of the 5870 X2 is visually different from the demonstrations captured by eNet.

Interestingly, the 5870 X2 pictures at HWC are identical to the Chiphell leaks 6 weeks back. It is unknown which of the heatsinks is the final design.

On the 5850 X2 side of things - we have a completely different design - resembling a Thermaltake Du-orb, although it really is two Zalman-type coolers dedicated to each of the two Cypress GPUs. A small heatsink is visible between the two coolers - possibly dismissing rumours about a PLX-less interconnect.

The 5870 X2 is still expected to retail for $499, below everyone's expectations, although some still doubt this price point considering a 5870 retails for $379. One of the rumours  being thrown around is that the 5870 X2 is actually 2xCypress Pro (2x5850) rather than 2xCypress XT (2x5870). Two potential reasons for this would be - 1) To keep the TDP below 300W (a 5870 is 188W) and 2) To avoid a large gap between 5870 and 5870 X2 (The 4800 series suffered from a large void between 4870 and 4870 X2, which was fixed many months later by the 4890. At the same time, a 5890 is also rumoured.). We will see how this unfolds leading to the release in one month's time.

All the leaked images are available at HardwareCanucks.
