Interestingly, the 5870 X2 pictures at HWC are identical to the Chiphell leaks 6 weeks back. It is unknown which of the heatsinks is the final design.

On the 5850 X2 side of things – we have a completely different design – resembling a Thermaltake Du-orb, although it really is two Zalman-type coolers dedicated to each of the two Cypress GPUs. A small heatsink is visible between the two coolers – possibly dismissing rumours about a PLX-less interconnect.

The 5870 X2 is still expected to retail for $499, below everyone’s expectations, although some still doubt this price point considering a 5870 retails for $379. One of the rumours  being thrown around is that the 5870 X2 is actually 2xCypress Pro (2×5850) rather than 2xCypress XT (2×5870). Two potential reasons for this would be – 1) To keep the TDP below 300W (a 5870 is 188W) and 2) To avoid a large gap between 5870 and 5870 X2 (The 4800 series suffered from a large void between 4870 and 4870 X2, which was fixed many months later by the 4890. At the same time, a 5890 is also rumoured.). We will see how this unfolds leading to the release in one month’s time.
