Images appearing on Twitter and a Best Buy flyer give a closer look at the upcoming successor to the Nexus 7.
New images and details on the successor to the Nexus 7 were leaked this weekend, thanks to the @evleaks Twitter account and a Best Buy sales flyer obtained by Android Central.
The pictures from @evleaks show a new rear-facing camera, notification light, dual speakers, as well as an altered Nexus wordmark on the rear.
Best Buy’s flyer obtained by Android Central shows the device has a 1920 x 1200 screen, 16GB of storage (but a 32GB model is also expected), and a price point of $229.99.
The tablet doesn’t have an exact release date. Google is holding a press event with Android and Chrome boss Sundar Pichai this Wednesday (July 24) in California, and the Best Buy flyer mentions that the new Nexus will be available on a Tuesday. Might Wednesday’s event be a launch of the new Android OS, and given the fact that Android software and hardware events are closely tied, are we going to see the device launch on July 31?
The launch of the first Nexus 7 was defined by Chronic shortages. It’s unknown if we are in for a repeat of the same with the launch of its successor.
