Today, Motorola and SingTel have jointly announced the exclusive launch of the Motorola Backflip in Singapore. The Android-powered Backflip with MOTOBLUR will be available from this Saturday (1st May) from as low as S$0 on selected price plans.
“We talk about a device that can bend over backwards, the Backflip is completely unique - the way you open it, the way it is designed. It is the second device with MOTOBLUR that allows you connect easily to your social networks and change the way you use your mobile phone.” says Andrew Morley, Vice President of Marketing across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and Asia at Motorola.
The Backflip features a QWERTY keypad and a 3.1-inch touchscreen display that supports 320×480 pixels resolution. Unlike some phones with slide out keyboard, this one lets you tilt the screen backward (hence the name) so that the screen would be facing up while the keypad becomes the base of the phone.
One unique feature of the Backflip is the BACKTRACK navigation pad behind the display that allows you to use your forefinger to navigate the menu options as well as documents, images and web pages easily.
By tilting the Backflip in an incline position as shown above, the phone can function as the table clock or photo frame. You can also dim the lighting by a push of the onscreen button too.
The Motorola comes with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera (with LED flash) together with the keyboard. You can shoot still images and videos and even self-portrait easily when you close or open the Backflip accordingly. It is currently using the older Android 1.5 operating system, weighs 133g and claims talk time of up to six hours.
