Motorola Backflip on sale from AT&T in US

AT&T has recently announced that customers can now purchase the new Motorola Backflip for US$100 (after US$100 mail-in rebate). This is the first Android-powered smartphone that AT&T released which features a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, reverse flip keyboard and equipped with Motorola's MotoBlur software that brings updates from your social networking sites to the home screen. AT&T has jumped on the Android bandwagon with the release of the Motorola Backflip. This inexpensive smartphone has an unusual reverse-flip keyboard with an HVGA Touchscreen and an large trackpad.

It features a clamshell design with a reverse flip keyboard such that when this model is closed, the keyboard is at the rear. This allows it to sit on a a table with its screen flipped up.

On the back of the 3.1-inch, HVGA screen is another unique feature, a large touchpad called the Backtrack. The Backflip is launching with Android OS 1.5, but an upgrade to Android 2.1 is coming at some point.

The Backflip comes with Motorola's MotoBlur which brings updates from range of social-networking services like Facebook and Twitter, text messages onto your inbox and home screen.

Like all smartphones running Google's operating system, it comes with a suite of communication and entertainment software with ties to services like Gmail and YouTube. User can also choose from 20,000+ third-party apps.

This Motorola smartphone can access AT&T's 3G mobile broadband Wireless Network, and also includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

In addition, this smartphone has a microSD memory card slot, a 5-megapixel camera, a GPS receiver, and a 3.5mm headset jack.

Pricing
The Motorola Backflip is available now for US$100 after a US$100 mail-in rebate. A two-year agreement and smartphone data plan are required to get this price. It can be ordered now on AT&T's website.
