It was only yesterday we were hearing about new notebooks coming from MSI at Computex and it seems like the company has no intention of waiting quite that long, as it has announced a new second generation Core i5 powered notebook today. The biggest change beyond the CPU is a move from Intel's HM55 chipset to the HM65 which means a new motherboard design that in turn brought with it some additional upgrades. The main feature change is the addition of a USB 3.0 port, but apparently this is an optional item which is disappointing. The memory card reader was also upgraded to support SD XC cards and the webcam was upgraded to an HD capable model.

MSI also gave the exterior a spit shine and it now has a somewhat more interesting pattern on the lid as well as the keyboard surround in a rather nice looking blue on black. Finally the speakers were given a touch of SRS Premium sound. For some rather bizarre reason, it seems like MSI decided to not include Bluetooth support on the CR460, yet the older CR420 model supports it. No word on pricing, but this is a budget model, although the use of Intel's second generation Core i processors will likely keep it out of the bargain notebook selection for a little while.
