Not too long ago, we brought you the news of MSI’s then-latest notebook, the FX600, which boasted some rather impressive specifications and design features. And now, barely two months after its initial release, MSI has announced its latest refresh to the MX600. World, meet the new MSI FX600MX notebook, which features switchable graphics technology.
The MSI FX600MX: Powerfully chic
MSI’s latest raised totem seal coating enhances the MSI FX600MX’s stylishness and combines with the nVidia GeForce 310M discrete graphics card to make it the ideal notebook computer in terms of both power and elegance.
Taipei—MSI has unveiled its all-new FX600MX notebook computer which features a 15.6” backlit LED screen and the Intel Core i5/i3 processor. It also packs the nVidia GeForce 310M discrete graphics card with 512MB of display memory. What’s more, when your machine is processing high-load applications, the automatic graphics switching in MSI’s GPU Boost technology kicks over to discrete graphics card mode for superior graphics processing.
Sheathed in MSI’s own anti-scratch, anti-smudge raised totem seal coating, the FX600MX is both formidable and chic. The wrist rest areas are covered with a raised checkerboard coating that is gentle on the hands when typing. Furthermore, such stylish design elements as the unique chiclet keyboard and raised multipoint touchpad combine to enhance class and texture. The FX600MX is the apex of computing—inside and out.
GPU Boost technology: The MSI FX600MX features the nVidia GeForce 310M discrete graphics card (512MB of display memory) for superior graphics processing capabilities and when your system needs extra processing power, the automatic graphics switching in MSI’s GPU Boost technology kicks the FX600MX over to discrete graphics card mode for greater graphics processing capabilities. When performing general word processing tasks or browsing the Internet, it automatically cuts to the power-sipping integrated graphics chip mode.
Cinema Pro technology: The MSI FX600MX features powerful multimedia processing and MSI’s own Cinema Pro technology for the best possible graphics. A touch of the Cinema Pro hotkey instantly switches to film mode for higher resolution and richer colors to bring you the same great audio experience found in live performances, films, and recording studios.

For some reason, MSI has opted not to use the term ‘Optimus’ in its switchable graphics technology, prefering instead to call it ‘GPU boost’. However, it is still rather obvious as to whose technology is actually working in the background to bring about the FX600MX’s switchable graphics feature.
Last but definitely not least, MSI has also chosen not to include any information about pricing and availability of the FX600MX in its press release, so it seems that consumers have little choice but to perform some guesswork about these two features. That being said, the fact that MSI had apprently saw it fit to issue a press release probably means that the notebook should be finding its way to local computer stores in a matter of time.
