MSI has launched the AMD Radeon HD 6850-based R6850 Cyclone 1GD5 Power Edition graphics card. The R6850 Cyclone uses MSI’s Cyclone custom cooler, a 6+1 phase power circuitry, and offers triple over-voltage functionality. To ensure excellent overclockability, the R6850 Cyclone is equipped with MSI’s Military Class II materials, consisting of Hi-C tantalum capacitors, solid capacitors and SFC high-performance chokes. A P/S Switch allows power users to switch between Performance Mode for maximum cooling performance, or Silent Mode for low noise operation.

Triple over-voltage and 6+1 phase power system

The R6850 Cyclone 1GD5 Power Edition is the first AMD Radeon HD 6850-based graphic card supporting triple over-voltage function. With the MSI-exclusive OC software Afterburner, users can easily adjust the voltage of the GPU, memory and VDDCI. When compared with other graphic cards of the same level, the R6850 Cyclone 1GD5 Power Edition has more overclocking potential as it is equipped with a more robust power system.

MSI-exclusive Cyclone thermal solution

The R6850 Cyclone 1GD5 Power Edition is equipped with MSI’s exclusive Cyclone thermal solution. With the help of heat pipes and a nickel-plated pure copper heatsink, heat from the GPU is transferred effectively to the heatsink’s fins. The heatsink is cooled by a 90mm temperature-controlled fan. Compared to the reference cooler, the Cyclone can reduce GPU temperature by 14°C and lower noise by 4dB! Maintaining a balance between cooling efficiency and noise levels, the Cyclone brings power users a cool and quiet work environment.

Performance / Silent Modes for picky power users

Considering the diversity of graphic card users, MSI has developed a P/S Switch function for users to adjust fan speed between Performance Mode and Silent Mode. The former provides enhanced cooling power that can significantly reduce GPU temperature, while the latter offers quiet operation for users to keep noise to a minimum when gaming or watching a movie.

Quality advancement: Military Class II materials

To pursue quality and stability excellence has always been the unchanged goal of MSI; the Military Class standard has won much support and trust from power users. Taking a step forward, MSI has introduced the Military Class II standard. The new standard includes all solid capacitors with a lifespan of up to ten years, additional Hi-C tantalum capacitors which offer lifespan eight times longer than solid ones, and Super Ferrite Core (SFC) high-performance chokes which can supply 30% more power. With such components, MSI is confident of the quality and stability of its graphics cards.
