The mysterious blue orb reminds us of (Iron Man) Tony Stark's arc reactor embedded in his chest. MSI calls their contraption "GPU Reactor".

This small PCB module purportedly helps overclockability with extra capacitors to increase current volume by 88% and reduce power supply noise by 13%

 

Backplate off 

 

Heatsink off – another black heatspreader prevents the card from warping and conducts heat from the memory chips/MOSFETs which will get toasty during heavy overclocking.
